About the Undergraduate Program
Department of Turkish Language and Literature (TLL) at Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBU) aims to study and teach Turkish literature in the light of modern criticism theories in comparison with world literature. Also it regards as a mission educating intellectual individuals that is sensitive to the environment and society.The aim of the department is to give the students the ability to think critically and to express their ideas effectively in written and oral forms.
Our Difference
Department of Turkish Language and Literature, as a research-oriented department, differs from similar programs with the claim that it treats Turkish literature with innovative ideas, perspectives and methods. In line with the stated aims and objectives, a student-centred teaching model is adopted through which learning is individualized, on-site learning opportunities being provided, enriched with effective thinking and learning methods, hence supporting creativity and originality. Also this model will help all students to go beyond theory-based education and allow them to develop excellent research and analysis capabilities through working on their academic writing skills, taking part in research projects, making presentations.
In this program, we aim to ensure that students gain practical learning experience by participating in national and international projects and exchange programs, participating in social responsibility projects voluntarily, internship opportunities in related institutions and organizations all through their education and training processes. The department of Turkish Language and Literature, offers its students a dynamic research and learning environment with its innovative and interdisciplinary academic staff
ASBU TLL, as a department that aims to research and teach the literature with digital facilities, contributes students' interest in the development of different areas thanks to numerous elective courses. Also there is learning chance of a foreign language they choosed (German, Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, Persian, Armenian, Chinese or Japanese)
Job Opportunities
Because of literature teaching is based to effective speaking, writing, research and analysis, department graduates have an opportunity of working in many different sectors. They can be teacher in secondary education institutions under the Ministry of National Education. They can be expert or assistant in various public institutions like ÖSYM, YÖK, RTÜK, TDK, Yazma Eserler Kurumu etc. Besides, our graduates can make a career in many different areas like publishing, education, academy, media, advertising, digital media etc. One of the primary objectives of the department is to ensure receiving admission of our graduates from master and doctoral programs of universities abroad and starting their academic careers.
